Isuzu Ascender
Isuzu has been one of the leading producers of quality diesel engine cars since its early days. The Isuzu Ascender which had been a great attraction for buyers after its introduction into the market started rolling out in 2003. At the time, the car was one of the SUV's that was priced reasonably in the American market. Isuzu Ascender was a product in alliance with General Motors (GM), and had a heavy influence of the GM classic, Chevrolet Train Blazer. Although Isuzu made a major modification in terms of styling and finishing, most of the engineering had characteristic traits of the Chev truck. One of the main outcomes for its pricing was a laudable initial success. However the Ascender went from the US market with Isuzu's signing off as an automobile sector player in country in 2008.
Engines
The Isuzu however went through a phase of what some might say unjustified criticism. The image of the Ascender has taken a beating through some press releases, mainly owing to its lack of originality. But a splendid performer, the car has also lived up to Isuzu's legacy of fuel efficient and powerful diesel engines. Isuzu used a 4.2L Vortec I6 of the GM family, and also released another version with 5.3L Vortec V6 also from GM. Isuzu's powerful engines have always caught the attention of avid automobile buyers. The prices being under $10,000 in 2003 made buyers all the more attracted to the Ascender.

Units and features
In the US with its development underway, the Ascender was rolling out of two cities. The assembly of the vehicle was carried out at Moraine, OH and Oklahoma City. As a relatively more reasonably priced car, the car may have lost the attractiveness in terms of features. Although everything to make your ride comfortable was amply fit in, there had been a demand for a greater number of features according to reviews in the press. However, the substantiality of facilities in the car was cordoned off by quite a few useful features like dual-zone manual climate control, power locking for windows and doors, entry without a key, cruise control, heated seats, an inbuilt audio system and power adjustable footwork.
The Ascender experience
The Isuzu Ascender was however not a car for urban adventure where the car could or could not be smashed into pieces. Road tests of the Ascender revealed that it was not a highly maneuverable car, but provided for high comfort, and smooth but powerful rides. Owing the 5.8L Vortec which saw through the whole Ascender era (2003 - 08), the car had gained a lot of popularity. The experience of riding the Ascender was speedy, but the built had enough cushion to provide passengers with a good level of coziness.
Being one of the major competitors in the American automobile market for a good five years, the Ascender had the assurance of its manufacturers and today has lived up to the expectations of the 7 year - 75000 mile warranty in a gallant way.
